Ted was a right-handed pitcher who played from 1927-39 for the St. Louis Stars, Detroit Wolves, Homestead Grays, Cole's American Giants, Chicago American Giants, Washington Pilots

He was the ace of the St. Louis Stars teams that won three pennants in the late 1920s, and of the Chicago American Giants in the 1930s. His best recorded season was 1928, when he led the St. Louis staff in virtually every pitching category and topped the league with a 21-2 mark. He pitched in four consecutive East-West all-star games from 1934 to 1937
