PEDRO SIERRA

Bo rn:  Cuba, 1938

Pedro Sierra played for the Indianapolis Clowns from 1954 to 1955.  In 1956, this Cuban right-hander pitched for the Detroit Stars.

Sierra had a 22-year career that began in 1954, when he left Cuba as a 16-year-old to play for the Indianapolis Clowns in the Negro League and included two stints in the Washington Senators' system. He left baseball in 1976 and worked for the Montgomery County (Maryland) Department of Recreation for 25 years.

He played in the Canadian Provincial League (1967-69), the Mexican League, in the Dominican Republic and even served in the U.S. Army during his 22 seasons on the mound.

Sierra possessed an aggressive pitching style, including a fondness for a well-timed brush back pitch.
