WILLIAM P. ‘Big Bill’ DRAKE
aka ‘Plunk’

Died: Oct. 30, 1977

Plunk Drake earned his nickname by keeping batters alert.  He was a “trick-ball” pitcher whose career spanned from 1914 to the late 1920’s. He played on many barnstorming squads, and even against white competition.
