Bud Greenspan Presents PRIDE AGAINST PREJUDICE: THE LARRY DOBY STORY, premiering tonight on
Showtime Television.

Sports documentarian Bud Greenspan turns his focus from the Olympics to the inspiring true story of baseball player Larry Doby (1923-2003), who became the second black player to break the color barrier when he joined the Cleveland Indians just eleven weeks after Jackie Robinson signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers. After interest in his story was resurrected by a "Sports Illustrated" article in 1997, Doby was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame and restored to his rightful place in sports history.

This SuperBowl Sunday, 21st Century Radio will be doing a 2 hour show on the Negro Legaue players - 8-10 PM on WCBM 680AM Radio.

Hour 1, 8-9 PM will feature Stanley Glenn, President of the NLBPA and his book, Don’t Let Anyone Take Your Joy Away and Quentin Wyatt who organized Bert Simmons Living Legend Celebration (2/18/07).

Hour 2, 9-10 PM will feature the last Negro Leaguer living in Maryland, Mr. Bert Simmons, former Baltimore Elite Giant and who was managed by Hall-of-Famers Bill Foster and Pop Lloyd.

Negro League Baseball Players will be signing autographs for a nominal fee at the Gaithersburg Antique and Collectible Show February 10th & 11th at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, 16 Chestnut Street, Gaithersburg, MD. Players scheduled at this event include: Jimmy Bland (Indianapolis Clowns), James Tillman (Homestead Grays), Joe Durham (Chicago American Giants), and Mamie "Peanut" Johnson (Indianapolis Clowns).  Also, Fred Valentine from the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Senators and Tippy Martinez from the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees be at the show.  Show hours are 10 am to 5 pm. March 22-23, 2007 (BIRMINGHAM, AL)
Alabama Negro League Association banquet and related activities. The player’s Association will also host a reception on Thursday, March 22, at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, beginning at 6:00 p.m. (Thursday's event is for sponsors, ballplayers and family and special guest. It is not open to the public).

Friday (March 23) evening’s event for this year will be the annual Alabama Negro League Association banquet, to be held at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center East Ballroom, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Conference registration, including confirmation for attendance at Friday’s banquet, must be received by the Friends of Rickwood no later than Monday, March 19. However, please confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience in order that we may accurately judge the over-all level of interest. Cost will be $50 for Friday banquet and $50 for Saturday conference.  Also, please include in your confirmation the names and addresses of any potential interested attendees.

Friends of Rickwood Field present the 4th Annual Southern Association Conference to be held in Birmingham, on Saturday, March 24, 2007. This year’s conference will look at Negro League ball in the South, with a particular focus on the Southern Association cities. Please consider attending and sharing your commitment to keeping alive the history of this great game.

MLB Civil Rights Game, Saturday, March, 31, 2007, 4:30 p.m. National Broadcast on ESPN. World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals will play the Cleveland Indians in the inaugural Civil Rights Game that precedes the opening of the 2007 season. The inaugural Civil Rights Game will be played on March 31, 2007, at AutoZone Park in Memphis, TN, home of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds, beginning at 4:30pm CST.  The game, which will be televised live on ESPN, will culminate a day of celebrating the Civil Rights Movement.

July 1, 2007 (KANSAS CITY, MO)
The Royals will pay tribute to Buck O’Neil at the annual Salute to the Negro Leagues Day on Sunday, July 1, when they play the Chicago White Sox. The first 20,000 fans will receive a Monarchs cap with a “22 O’Neil” emblem stitched on the back.

August 18, 2007 (WILMINGTON, DE)
The 12th Annual Judy Johnson Night will be held Saturday, August 18th at the home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Delaware). Players in Negro League uniforms. Commemorative Negro League Baseball card will be given out to all who attend. Many former Negro League players in attendance. Large silent auction with much Negro League memorabilia, USPS postal cancellation.
