Willie was a member of the Homestead Grays pitching staff that won the last Negro National League pennant, and defeated the Birmingham Black Barons in the World Series that followed. The 6’ 4” pitcher also played in the Provincial League, the Western League and the American Association. His brother Dave, an outfielder, played with him for the Grays. | | |
