City of Jacksonville Unveils New Negro League Statue

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A couple hundred folks turned out to the historic J.P. Small Baseball Park today as the city unveiled a tribute to its National Negro League baseball legacy.

The "Heading for Home" statue was officially unveiled in a ceremony Friday afternoon at the historic park which is located on Myrtle Street near 8th Street on the Northside.

Also located near the field's entry gates is the J.P. Small Museum and Negro League Exhibit.
