Indian Head Rockets in Saskatchewan, posted by Trayton Adair on 3/11/2004 10:22:22 AM
I'm working on a film screenplay about the Indian Head baseball club. In 1950 Indian Head, Saskatchewan, brought a whole team (Eagles) from Jacksonville, Florida. Some of the best players in the Negro Leagues played in western Candada. It was an incredible decade in the prairie provinces. I was a kid and vividly rembember the games. I'm looking for black players who can talk of their stories in the late 40's and 50's. I'm discovering different accents, styles, baseball, rich characters and great stories. If anyone has kept contact any of the those (Rockets) players who would also be talk about the times, it would be great to get those names, email and phone numbers, too. Bijan Bayne has found Pancho Gray for us. He's great!

Hello! I am searching for all info about baseball teams from the USA that played in Manitoba/Sask in 1951. I specifically need info on a team that was "BANNED" from Manitoba in spring of 1952 owing to a very large number of unwanted babies (said to be 1/2 balck) who were left behind by their mothers. My late husband was one of those babies. I'd really like to hear from anyone who may have info on this. Many thanks! The Widow

Trayton, Pls send details on your project. Looks fascinating. I'm also trying to track down more info on the club, esp. any photos of the players. (Anyone know if Roberto Barbon -- long time Japanese star -- is the same as the Roberto Barbon who played with Indian Head?). Thanks, Jay

I am trying to obtain information on a player called Hubert Glen (Glenn) who played for my father's ball club in the 1940's and 1950's in Claresholm, Alberta. I think he could have played previously for the Rockets as they came to town on a barnstorming tour. Any info available?? Thanks.
