Claro was an outfielder for the New York Cubans from 1944 to 1947 and was a member of the Negro League East-West All-Star team in 1947. He also was the Cuban Winter League Batting Champion in 1944-45, Mexican League Batting Champion in 1945-46 and was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1997
