He posted more than 10 wins seven times. The all-time leader in saves with 29. Led the Negro National League several times in saves. The Detroit Stars all-time leader in all pitching categories. Traded to Kansas City for five players in 1928. Posted a 116-57 record, good for a .671 winning percentage Often pitched three games in a five-game series, starting two and relieving another. Equivalent record per season is 16-8. In the California Winter League, Cooper pitched in 43 games over six seasons with a record of 22-6, a .786 winning percentage.
