BILL ‘READY’ CASH

Born: Feb. 21, 1919 - Round Oak, GA.

Bill was a catcher for the Philadephia Stars in the Negro Leagues (1943-50) and played in the Mexican, Canadian, and minor Leagues (1950-53).

Bill had a strong arm who had deadly accuracy on his throws to second base. Bill was also selected to play with Satchel Paige’s All Star barnstorming team in 1946, but wound up being unable to play because of a broken thumb.

He was a member of the Negro League East-West All-Star team in 1948 and 1949, and the Mexican League All-Star team in 1950.

Bill currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Negro League Baseball Players Association.
