SHERWOOD ‘WOODY’ BREWER

Born: Aug. 16, 1923
Died: April 23, 2003

Sherwood played for the 1946 Seattle Steelheads, 1947-48 barnstorming Harlem Globetrotters, and from 1948 to 1950 for the New York Cubans and the  Indianapolis Clowns.  After a short stint in minor league ball, he returned to play for the Kansas City Monarchs in 1953-54 as the Negro Leagues were in decline. He played infield and outfield and appeared in the 1950 East-West All Star game, getting one hit in two at bats and scoring a run.

Sherwood was a 2000 inductee to the Milwaukee County Stadium Negro League Wall of Fame.
