JOHN L. BISSANT

Born: Feb 19, 1914
Died: April 1, 2006

He began his career with Coles American Giants in 1934 and with the Shreveport Acme Giants in 1935 and 1936.

He also played for the Cincinnati Tigers (1937), New Orleans Black Pelicans (1938), Chicago American Giants (1939-48), Birmingham Black Barons (1940), and the Chicago Brown Bombers (1942).

In 1947 he batted .354 while serving as team captian for the Chicago American Giants.

John L. Bissant passed away April 1, 2006 in Houston Texas (where he evacuated to due to the hurricane in New Orleans). Funeral services in NEW ORLEANS at Charbonnet Funeral Home, 1615 Saint Philip St New Orleans, LA 70116-2936 on Saturday April 8th at 10:00 AM (Viewing at 8:00).
