HERMAN ‘DOC’ HORN
Died June 8, 2006

As reported in the Kansas City Star 6/14/06

Herman “Doc” Horn Jr., a former Kansas City Monarch, died last Thursday. Graveside services are at 1 p.m. today at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Horn didn’t always see eye to eye with the way the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum was run, but museum marketing director Bob Kendrick said he always respected Horn’s opinions.

“I also respected his passion for the museum,” Kendrick said. “I truly believe he was proud of the museum, proud of his place in the history.”

Kendrick said Horn as a player “was a good-hitting outfielder.”
