| OBITUARY - Bennie L. Griggs Sr. GRIGGS, SR., BENNIE L., age 78, of Birmingham, died November 18, 2006. He received a Purple Heart for service in the Korean War; was inducted into the Canadian League Baseball Hall of Fame; played baseball in the Negro League; and he was an extraordinary Golfer. Survivors include daughters, Theresa (Roy) Bates of Montgomery, AL, Sharon (James) Guest of Birmingham, AL and Angela Leafloor of Atlanta, GA; sons, Bennie L. (Catherine) Griggs, Jr., Errick (Marlene) Griggs of Birmingham, AL and James Sabraw of Canada; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Asa Griggs, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 12 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Birmingham, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Darrin Mayfield officiating.
