Hooks was an outfieldder for the Pittsburgh Monarchs and the Pittsburgh Crawfords from 1922 to 1931, and also managed the Crawfords for a few years, but he is perhaps best known for discovering a young catcher by the name of Josh Gibson in 1927. | |
