JOHN FORD SMITH

Born: Jan. 9, 1919
Died: Feb. 26, 1983

Smith was a hard throwing right hander and one of the leading pitchers on the 1946 pennant winning Kansas City Monarchs.  Beyond baseball Smith was a Lieutenant in the Air Corps and was later Executive Director of the Arizona State Civil Rights Commission.
