CHARLIE NEAL

Born: 01-30-1931
Died: 11-18-1996

Charlie played briefly in the Negro Leagues (1955) and rapidly jumped to the big leagues when he began his Major League baseball career on April 17, 1956, with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

He batted .370 for the Dodgers in the 1959 World Series and on April 13,1962, Charlie became the the first black player on the New York Mets roster.

He played for 8 seasons on 4 different teams and ended his big league playing career in 1963.
