Connie was an outstanding pitcher for the Atlanta Black Crackers, Toledo-Indianapolis Crawfords and K.C. Monarchs from 1940 to 1952 before going on to the Major Leagues with the Chicago White Sox in 1953, 1955 and 1956 and with the Baltimore Orioles from 1956 to 1958.
