NEALE ‘BOBO’ HENDERSON

Born: June 24, 1930 - Fort Smith, Arkansas

Bobo Henderson was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas but honed his baseball skills as a product of the San Diego, California school system.  He and Gene Richardson played for the San Diego High School’s Cavemen baseball team, where his coach put him in contact with the Kansas City Monarchs.

Bobo had his Negro League debut with the 1949 Monarchs, where he played primarily as an outfielder, but was adept at the infield also.  He also played for the following clubs:

1949
- Abilene Ikes (KC, Class “C” team)
- Kansas City Monarchs (Negro American League)

1950-51
- Kansas City Stars (Monarchs “B” team),
- KC Stars (Independent)
- KC Travelers (Independent team with Cool Papa Bell as their manager)

1951-53
- US Army, Camp Roberts & Fort Lewis.  Army baseball and football
